Beef sticks and jerky will be available for purchase to eat on the spot. We also have a new supply of canned goods, jams, and jellies in stock.

We had a winning number this past Saturday! They went home with the best cheese this side of heaven! Congratulations and good on you for keeping track of those red ticket stubs.

Next week is the 5K! Cheer on the runners from the community or better yet, we will cheer you on. There is still time to register. Post race, the runners will have an opportunity to sample the The Farmers’ Market food at the runners table.

Some of you have responded to being Course Marshals at the 5K on June 22, 2013-thank you! If you live in Summerfield and can be a course marshal please let me know; Lynne@thefarmersmarketateleverson.org.

Along with the 5K we look forward to the third annual Elverson Day later in the afternoon.

This Saturday will again confirm the strong base of talent in the area as we will be able to listen to Roger Gilpin, a 1992 graduate of Berklee College in Boston, playing his guitar in the park.

Lawn Signs advertising The Farmers Market at Elverson are available for you to purchase by way of supporting the local market endeavor. If you are interested in purchasing a sign let us know by June 29. They will be available for $18. We only want you to put them out in your lawn on a Saturday morning and take them down after the market.

A Few of the Reason I Love the Market

What is it about the Saturdays from morning to early afternoon that I personally enjoy about The Farmer’s Market at Elverson? There are many things but let me list a few and trust me these are just a few.

Having held Brandon Hertzler as a baby, watching him grow alongside of my children, makes it a privilege to be a co-vender with him at the market. Our relationship has morphed into an adult friendship and I so appreciate the man he has become. He is one of the stars of the market and has a fan base that his new co-worker has already recognized.

This leads me to another reason, Brandon’s co-worker, Terri Leamer, You will find her working alongside Mr. Personality at Weavers Orchard’s stand. She is a dear friend of mine and to see her every Saturday is more fun than I should really be having. This is a woman with a wealth of knowledge that might surprise you. Only recently did she sell her cows that she had been raising for about the past ten years.

I also appreciate the relationships formed because of the Market. Pam and Don Gable were just names prior to 2010. Now this couple that we co-manage the market with is dear to me and my family. I am awed by their energy and commitment to their farm, business and to their family. I love the fact that my younger are relentlessly teased by Mr. Gable!

I also love seeing the community, you, at the market. It is something I look forward to every Friday night. There is nothing in either Lynn or I that dread the arrival of Saturday morning. There is motivation we find in our bones energizing us to organize, refill, pack, unpack, pack up again, unpack, and on and on we go.

My older children know exactly where we are every Saturday and this is another solid reason I appreciate the market. They know to come to the Market if they want to see us or get themselves the best coffee in the area.

A fun aspect of the market is watching new vendors  exude hope, creativity and a unique bent. I enjoy watching them organize their business as the community coming to the market helps them with this grand endeavor.

Honestly, if you do not have time, don’t ever ask me why I enjoy The Farmers’ Market at Elverson.  I could go on but I will spare you any more mush!
